Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty happening at Parlee Farms! Late August is one of those special times of year when you can enjoy some of your favorite summer activities while also starting to see the first signs of fall around the farm.
With Labor Day around the corner, now is a great time to plan a visit. You may still find summer favorites like peaches and flowers, while apple season is just beginning. Before long, we’ll also be transitioning into our fall schedule and all the activities that come with one of our busiest seasons of the year.
Enjoy the Last of Our Summer Favorites
There is still time to enjoy summer at Parlee Farms! There is still plenty of fun to be had at our farms, and you can not only pick your own fruit and flowers, but there are some great activities that you an do.
August is peach season, and depending on crop availability, you may still have an opportunity to pick your own peaches before the season comes to an end. Late summer is also a great time to stop by the Farmstand for our fresh produce, baked goods, apple cider donuts, and our own Non-GMO sweet corn.
Our cut-your-own flower gardens are also going strong. The gardens typically remain open into early October, giving you plenty of time to create a colorful bouquet filled with flowers grown right here on the farm. As we move closer to September, you can also start looking forward to our Sunflower Garden, which traditionally begins blooming in early September.
Get Ready for Apple Season
One of the biggest signs that fall is getting closer is the arrival of apple season! Our apple harvest typically begins in late August and continues through October, with different varieties ripening throughout the season.
We grow more than 20 varieties of apples at Parlee Farms, so what you find during one visit may be completely different a few weeks later. The earliest varieties begin ripening while it still feels very much like summer, with even more favorites becoming available as September and October arrive.

Celebrate Labor Day at the Farm
Labor Day weekend often feels like the unofficial transition between summer and fall in New England, and you can experience a little bit of both at Parlee Farms. You may still be cutting fresh summer flowers or enjoying peaches while the first apples of the season are ready nearby. As we move further into September, even more fall favorites will begin appearing, including additional apple varieties, our Sunflower Garden, and eventually pumpkins.
We’ll also be transitioning to our fall hours as the season gets underway. Since hours, picking conditions, and crop availability can change, always check Today’s Farm News before heading to the farm.
There is still plenty of summer left to enjoy, but fall is definitely around the corner!
