Fall has arrived at Parlee Farms, but that doesn’t mean flower season is over! In fact, this is a beautiful time of year to visit our flower gardens. The colors of the flowers look right at home alongside everything else happening around the farm as we move further into apple and pumpkin season.
Our Cut Your Own Flower Garden is still filled with plenty of color, and our Sunflower Garden is blooming too. If you haven’t had a chance to pick flowers with us yet this year, there is still time. Here’s what you can look forward to when you visit.
What Is Still in Bloom in Our Flower Gardens?
Our flower garden changes throughout the season, which means a fall visit can look very different from one earlier in the summer. Right now, there are plenty of flowers to choose from, including dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons, gladiolus, and more than 20 different types of filler flowers.
Part of the fun is walking through the garden and seeing which flowers catch your attention. You can combine different colors, sizes, and textures to make a bouquet that is completely your own. We provide the bucket and shears while you pick, and when you are finished, we will wrap your flowers so they are ready to take home.
Don’t Miss the Sunflowers – They’re a Highlight! 
Sunflowers are one of the highlights of flower season at Parlee Farms, and fall is their time to shine! Our nearly one-acre Sunflower Garden is planted in multiple sections, helping us enjoy waves of blooms from early September into early October.
Cut a few sunflowers to make them the centerpiece of your bouquet or let them stand on their own for a simple fall arrangement. Their bright yellow color is perfect for this time of year and looks beautiful on a kitchen table, dining room table, or anywhere else that could use a little color. They also make a thoughtful gift to bring to a friend, family member, or fall gathering.
Enjoy Your Freshly Picked Flowers At Home
One of the best things about picking your own flowers is deciding what you want to do with them once you get home. Create a large arrangement for your table, divide your flowers into smaller bouquets for different rooms, or pick something special for a birthday, dinner party, or other occasion.
Fall flowers can also be a fun way to decorate for the season without immediately jumping to traditional fall decorations. A bouquet filled with sunflowers, dahlias, zinnias, and filler flowers brings plenty of autumn color into your home while still letting you enjoy the last part of the growing season.
