One of these benefits is as an immune system aid, and many of us instinctually reach for foods high in this vitamin when we are feeling under the weather. It is also high in the beneficial plant compounds elargonidin, ellagic acid, ellagitannins, and procyanidins, which are also antioxidants. It is thought that these plant compounds can help boost heart health and help you regulate your blood sugar. Strawberries are a good source of manganese. Although manganese is only used in trace amounts in our body, it does play a role in boosting our health. Manganese can help the body regulate blood sugar, may help improve blood pressure, has antioxidant properties, and can help improve bone health.
