Peaches Are in Season: Some Facts!
Fresh peaches are one of the true joys of summer and peach season is in full swing! There’s nothing like biting into a sweet, juicy, freshly-picked peach. Here at Parlee Farms, you can pick-your-own and experience this delight first-hand! Here is some information that will help you best plan your visit:
Visit at the Right Time
First, you should plan the right time for your visit. Visit our news page for updates on what we have available and our opening hours. You want to make sure to come when the peach trees are open and ready for picking as we do not pick every day!
How to Dress for Your Outing
Pick the Perfect Peach
You want to pick peaches that are perfectly ripe. When we open up a tree or a section of our field to picking, you can know that they are ready. The peach should be firm but yield slightly to pressure, and the skin should have a vibrant color.
However, you should know that we only open the trees where the peaches are perfectly ripe. Simply pluck your perfect peaches right off the tree and place them in the box that you purchased ahead of time. You want to hold the peach gently and not squeeze too hard, or it will injure them.
Peaches will ripen more at home if you leave them on the counter. If you don’t want to ripen them more keep them in the fridge at home.
